FAQ

How do I get to the start line at Takebishi Stadium?
The most efficient way is taking the Hankyu Railway to Nishi-Kyogoku Station. It is a very short walk from the station to the stadium. Leave early as trains become extremely crowded with runners.
Do I need to carry my own trash during the race?
Yes, Kyoto Marathon has a strict 'No Littering' policy to protect the historic city. You are encouraged to carry a small pouch for waste, though aid stations do have designated disposal bins.
Is the course flat or hilly?
The course is undulating with a net uphill in the first half and a net downhill toward the finish. There are several bridges and narrow paths along the Kamo River that require careful footing.
What is the time limit for the marathon?
The time limit is 6 hours, based on the starter's gun. There are several checkpoints throughout the course with strict cut-off times; if you don't reach them, you will be asked to board the 'bus of shame'.
Where is the packet pickup located?
Packet pickup usually takes place at Miyako Messe (Kyoto International Exhibition Hall) in the days leading up to the race. There is NO race-day registration or bib collection.
What is the typical weather on race day?
February in Kyoto is cold and crisp. Expect temperatures between 2°C and 9°C. It can be quite windy near the river, so wearing layers or a disposable outer shell is highly recommended.
