FAQ

Where exactly is the transition area situated?
The transition area and event village are located at the foot of the Gileppe Dam (Barrage de la Gileppe) near the main tower and visitor centre.
Is the swim in a wetsuit mandatory?
Wetsuits are typically allowed as the Lac de la Gileppe stays relatively cool, averaging 18-20°C in August, but final status is confirmed by the technical delegate on race morning.
What is the MTB course like?
Expect a classic Ardennes profile: technical root sections, steep short climbs, and fast forest tracks. A hardtail is possible, but a full-suspension XC bike is recommended for comfort and traction.
How do I get to the venue from Brussels?
The best way is by car (approx. 1h 30m). If using public transport, take a train to Verviers-Central and then a local bus or taxi to the lake, though a car is highly recommended for bike transport.
When is the packet pickup?
Registration usually opens on Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning at the race village. Check the athlete guide for specific timing to ensure you don't miss the mandatory briefing.
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, there is a large parking area at the Gileppe Dam, but it fills up very early on race day. Athletes are advised to arrive at least 90 minutes before their start wave.
