What is the mandatory gear for Ultra-Trail Shudao?
As a UTMB World Series event, you must carry a waterproof jacket, emergency blanket, whistle, mobile phone with roaming, at least 1L of water, and a headlamp for the longer distances (UTC and PKC).
How do I get to Jiange from Guangyuan?
High-speed trains run frequently from Guangyuan Railway Station to Jiange (Jianmenguan) Station, taking roughly 15 minutes. Alternatively, race shuttles are typically provided from Guangyuan city center.
Where is the bib collection (packet pickup)?
Bib collection is generally hosted at the Jiange Stadium / Expo area. You must bring your ID and all mandatory gear for check-in 24-48 hours before the start.
Is there a drop-bag service for the long categories?
Yes, for the 100K (UTC) and 50K (PKC) categories, runners can typically leave a drop bag at the start to be transported to a designated mid-course aid station.
What is the terrain like on the Shudao path?
The course segments include ancient flagstone paths, techincal forest trails, and steep climbs. The flagstones can be extremely slippery if it rains, so shoes with excellent grip are essential.
Do I need a Chinese visa to participate?
Yes, most international travelers require a tourist (L) visa. However, check if your country is eligible for China's recent visa-free entry policies or 72/144-hour transit visas.
