- Where and when is packet pickup?
- Packet pickup typically takes place 2-3 days before the race at a designated sports mall in Cairo or at the Giza Plateau entrance. Check your final athlete guide for the specific 2026 location.
- Is the course paved or sand?
- The course is 100% paved on asphalt roads within the Giza Plateau. You do not need trail shoes; standard road running shoes are recommended.
- How do I get to the start line?
- If staying at Mena House, you can walk. If staying further away, use the official event shuttles or Careem/Uber. Note that roads into the complex close very early (typically 6:00 AM).
- What is the elevation like?
- The course is undulating with some significant climbs. The terrain is at a slight altitude compared to the city, and the hills around the Pyramids provide a challenging workout.
- Are there hydration stations?
- Yes, water and electrolyte stations are positioned approximately every 2.5km. Given the dry desert air, athletes are encouraged to drink at every station.
- What is the security protocol?
- The Giza Plateau is a high-security zone. You must have your race bib visible and valid ID. Expect bag checks at the main entrance gates.
