How do I get to the start line at Takebishi Stadium?
The most efficient way is taking the Hankyu Railway to Nishikyogoku Station. It is a 5-minute walk from there. Avoid taxis on race morning due to heavy road closures.
When and where is the bib pickup?
Packet pickup typically takes place at Miyako Messe (Kyoto International Exhibition Hall) in the two days leading up to the race. There is no race-day pickup.
Does the course have a time limit?
Yes, the Kyoto Marathon has a strict 6-hour time limit with several checkpoints (cut-off gates) along the route.
Is the course hilly?
The course is generally undulating. It follows the Kamo River and passes several shrines, with a gradual net incline in the first half and a descent/flat section in the second half.
What is the gear bag procedure?
You will receive a designated bag at registration. On race morning, drop it at the trucks near the stadium; they will transport it to the finish line at Heian Jingu Shrine.
Are there many toilets on the course?
Yes, Japan is excellent for this. There are frequent temporary toilets and marked public facilities along the entire 42.2km route.
