FAQ

How do I get to the start lines for the different race distances?
The race is a point-to-point course. The organizers provide mandatory shuttle buses from the finish line area in Umag to the various start lines in Labin (168k), Buzet (110k), and Motovun (69k). You must book your shuttle slot during registration.
Where and when is bib collection?
Packet pickup typically takes place at the Sports Hall in Umag (near the finish line) starting two days before the main race. You must present your ID and mandatory gear for inspection.
What is the mandatory gear for the 100-mile race?
Required items include a waterproof jacket (10,000 Schmerber), thermal layers, two headlamps with spare batteries, a survival blanket, whistle, and at least 1 litre of water capacity. Gear is strictly checked at registration.
Are trekking poles allowed?
Yes, poles are highly recommended due to the technical nature of the Učka mountain range and the slippery limestone sections. If you start with them, you must carry them to the finish.
What kind of terrain should I expect?
The course is very varied: the first half is technical, mountainous and rocky (Učka mountain), while the second half features rolling hills, medieval towns, and sections of the Parenzana old railway trail.
Are there cut-offs I should be aware of?
Yes, strict cut-off times are enforced at major aid stations like Buzet and Motovun. These are calculated based on the maximum finish time (46 hours for the RED 168k course).
