FAQ

Where and when is packet pickup?
Registration usually takes place at the IRONMAN Village located at the Hippodrome or near the Citadel, typically opening Thursday and Friday. You must book a slot in advance via the active.com link.
Is the swim in the Atlantic cold?
Water temperatures in October average 18-19°C. Wetsuits are almost always mandatory for age groupers. The bay is usually sheltered, but a rolling swell can occur.
What is the bike course profile like?
The course is varied. It includes flat 'speed' sections along the Marginal road toward Lisbon, but features a significant climb through the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park (Guincho/Malveira area).
Can I bring my bike on the train from Lisbon?
Yes, the CP Urban trains from Cais do Sodré to Cascais allow bikes for free, but they will be very crowded during race week. Plan for off-peak travel.
Are there cut-off times I should be aware of?
Yes, strictly enforced: 2h20 for the swim, 10h30 cumulative for the bike, and 17h total for the race.
What is the run course surface?
The run is almost entirely flat and on paved asphalt/cobblestones, following the coastline between Cascais and Estoril. It provides great spectator support but can be breezy.
