Where is the packet pickup located?

The Expo/Packet Pickup usually takes place at the Marina da Glória or the Pião da Praça Mauá. It is mandatory to collect your bib in the three days prior; no race-day pickup is available.

Is the course point-to-point or a loop?

The 42k is a point-to-point race starting in Recreio dos Bandeirantes and finishing at Aterro do Flamengo. The 21k usually starts and finishes at Aterro.

How do I get to the 42k start line in Recreio?

Organisers provide shuttle buses from Aterro do Flamengo (near the finish) to the start line. You must book these in advance during registration or at the Expo.

What is the typical race weather?

May/June is winter in Rio. Expect a humid start with temperatures around 18°C, rising to 26°C. The sun can be very intense after 9:00 AM on the coastal stretches.

Are there hills on the course?

The course is remarkably flat as it follows the coastline. The only minor inclines are small ramps near Joá and the tunnels connecting the beaches.

Is water provided in cups or bottles?

Accepted Answer

Water is provided in sealed plastic cups (copinhos) every 2-3km. Electrolytes and fruit are usually available every 5-10km.
