FAQ

Do I need a specific type of mountain bike?
Yes, a hardtail or short-travel full-suspension XC mountain bike is recommended. The trails can be muddy and technical with root systems.
How do I get my bike from Tahiti to Moorea?
Take the Aremiti or Terevau ferry from Papeete. They are very bike-friendly, and it is a quick 30-45 minute crossing.
Is the swim in open ocean or a lagoon?
The swim takes place in the crystal-clear waters of Opunohu Bay, which is generally protected and calm, though sightings of marine life are common.
Where is the transition area located?
The transition area and race hub are at Te Fare Natura - Opunohu. It's a central location accessible by the main island road.
Is the water warm enough for a wetsuit?
No. The water temperature is around 26-27°C, making it a non-wetsuit swim for almost all participants.
What is the trail surface like for the run?
The run is iconic, taking you through the 'Pineapple Valley'. Expect tropical forest trails, some steep climbs, and potentially slippery red clay.
