FAQ

Where exactly is Packet Pickup?
Packet pickup typically happens at the Combate Beach Resort or a designated tent at Playa El Combate on the Friday and Saturday preceding the Sunday race. Bring your ID and proof of insurance.
What is the bike course terrain like?
The MTB course is primarily through the Cabo Rojo National Wildlife Refuge. Expect a mix of fast dirt tracks, sandy sections, and sharp cactus-lined trails. It is coastal, so expect high humidity but relatively little elevation compared to other XTERRA events.
Is the water warm enough for a wetsuit?
No. The water temperature at Combate Beach in April is typically around 27°C (80°F), making the race strictly non-wetsuit. A swim skin is recommended if you want a performance edge.
How do I get to Cabo Rojo from the airport?
The best way is to rent a car at San Juan International Airport (SJU). The drive is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. An SUV is highly recommended if you are carrying bike boxes.
Are there thorns on the bike course?
Yes. The 'Meseta' area is famous for cactus thorns. Running a tubeless setup with fresh sealant is mandatory to avoid race-ending punctures.
What is the run course like?
The run is an off-road trail run along the limestone cliffs near the Los Morrillos Lighthouse. It is spectacular but very exposed to the sun with zero shade. High-factor sunscreen and hydration are vital.
