Where is the swim located?
The swim takes place in the Lac de Tech, a pristine mountain lake located approximately 10km from the Arrens-Marsous village. Large shuttle buses ferry athletes from transition.
How challenging is the bike course?
Extremely challenging. The course features high-altitude Pyrenean passes like the Col du Soulor. Compact gearing (34x32 or 30) is highly recommended for all but elite climbers.
Is the water cold in the Lac de Tech?
Yes, water temperatures typically range between 14°C and 17°C in early September. Full-sleeve wetsuits are mandatory for safety and warmth.
When is packet pickup?
Registration usually takes place on the Friday afternoon and Saturday morning preceding the race at the Salle des Fêtes in Arrens-Marsous.
Are there cut-off times?
Yes, strict cut-offs apply at the end of the swim and at the start of the final run loop to ensure safety before sunset on the mountain trails.
What kind of shoes are needed for the run?
The run is typically a trail or hybrid course with significant elevation gain; trail shoes with good grip are recommended over standard road flats.
Where do I park on race morning?
Designated athlete parking is available at the entrance of Arrens-Marsous; follow signs for 'Parking Athlètes' and allow 15 minutes to walk to the transition zone.
