FAQ

How do I get to the race start at Nahuel Huapi?
Shuttles typically run from San Carlos de Bariloche city centre and Llao Llao for registered athletes. The MiBus public line 20 also runs frequently along the lake shore.
What is the mandatory gear requirement?
Expect strict UTMB standards including a waterproof jacket (10k/10k), emergency blanket, whistle, minimum 1L water capacity, and a survival bag due to the unpredictable Alpine climate.
Where is the bib collection located?
Bib distribution usually takes place at the Bariloche Event Centre near the Civic Centre 2 days prior to the race. You must bring your photo ID and a signed medical certificate.
Are trekking poles allowed?
Yes, trekking poles are permitted but must be carried from the start. You cannot pick them up or drop them off halfway through the race.
What is the terrain like?
Highly technical. Expect steep ascents, loose volcanic scree, forest singletrack, and potential snow patches on higher ridges like Cerro Catedral or Cerro Lopez.
Is there a drop bag service?
For longer distances (100k+), a drop bag is usually available at a mid-point designated aid station. Check your specific runner's guide for the precise location.
