FAQ

Where is the race village located?
The race village and main finish line are located in the Centro Histórico (Historic Centre) of Paraty, typically at Praça da Matriz.
How do I get to Paraty from abroad?
Fly into Rio de Janeiro (GIG) or São Paulo (GRU). From there, book a private transfer or take a 4-5 hour bus ride to Paraty.
What is the terrain like for Paraty by UTMB?
Expect technical coastal trails, rainforest single-track, and steep climbs through the Serra da Bocaina mountains. It can be very slippery if wet.
Is it humid during the race?
Yes, Paraty is in a tropical zone. Expect humidity levels above 80%, which makes hydration and salt management critical.
Are poles recommended?
Highly recommended for the PETAR and 110k distances due to the significant vertical gain and potentially muddy descents.
When is packet pickup?
Usually held in the two days leading up to the race at the event village. You must present your mandatory gear for inspection.
What gear is mandatory?
Standard UTMB kit: waterproof jacket, survival blanket, whistle, hydration capacity, and a headlamp for the longer distances.
Can spectators access the course?
Yes, though road access to some mountain checkpoints is limited. The historic center offers the best atmosphere for the start and finish.
