FAQ

What is the air quality like for the marathon?
Kathmandu can have high particulate matter in December. The race usually starts early (07:00) to mitigate exposure to traffic exhaust and industrial haze.
Is the course flat?
No. While not a mountain race, Kathmandu is at 1,400m altitude and the course features rolling hills and uneven road surfaces typical of the valley.
Where do I collect my race packet?
Packet pickup is typically held at the Dashrath Stadium or a designated hotel 1-2 days before the race. Identity proof is mandatory.
What is the expected weather on race morning?
December is winter in Nepal. Expect temperatures around 4-7°C at the start, warming up to 15-18°C by midday. Layering is essential.
Are there hydration stations on the course?
Yes, water and electrolytes are provided every 3-5km, but it is highly recommended to carry some of your own nutrition and a handheld bottle.
How do I get to the start line?
Taxis/Pathao (local ride-sharing) are available, but pre-arrange a drop-off as several main roads are closed for the event.
Is the course traffic-free?
The organisers strive for traffic-free zones, but expect occasional local traffic or pedestrians crossing the route in busy sections.
