Where is the race expo and bib pickup?
The expo is usually held at Laugardalshöll Sport Hall. You must pick up your packet on Thursday or Friday; there is no bib pickup on race day (Saturday).
What is the course profile like?
The course is mostly flat and paved, offering scenic views of the ocean and mountains. There are minor undulations, particularly around the 30km mark, but it is considered a fast course.
How do I get to the start line?
The start is at Lækjargata in the city centre. Most downtown hotels are within walking distance. For those further out, public buses (Strætó) run, though some streets are closed.
What should I wear for the race?
Weather is unpredictable. Expect temperatures between 10-15°C with potential wind and rain. Layering is key; a singlet with arm warmers and a light shell is often recommended.
Is the race part of the Culture Night?
Yes, the marathon coincides with 'Menningarnótt' (Culture Night). The city will be packed with concerts and events, ending with a massive firework display at 23:00.
Are there hydration stations on the course?
Stations are located approximately every 5km, offering water and Powerade. Bananas are typically provided at later stages of the full marathon.
