FAQ

How do I get my race bib (packet pickup)?
Bib collection takes place at the Sport Centre (Centre Sportif Richard Bozon). You must book a specific time slot via your runner account and bring all mandatory gear for a spot check.
Is there a mandatory gear list?
Yes, and it is strictly enforced. You must carry items like a waterproof jacket, survival blanket, whistle, and mobile phone with international roaming. Check the UTMB website for the specific 'heatwave' or 'cold weather' kit additions.
How do the UTMB shuttles work?
The organization provides 'UTMB Bus' services to transport runners to starts in Courmayeur (TDS/CCC) or Orsières (OCC) and for spectators to reach aid stations. You must reserve these in advance through your runner portal.
Can my crew support me at any aid station?
No. Assistance is only permitted at specific designated aid stations. Crew members usually need a 'Pass Assistance' and must follow the official transport plan to avoid traffic congestion.
What is the terrain like for the main UTMB race?
It is highly technical alpine terrain with over 10,000m of vertical gain. Expect long climbs (1000m+ at a time), root-heavy descents, and high-altitude passes where weather changes rapidly.
Are trekking poles allowed?
Yes, and they are highly recommended. However, if you start with them, you must carry them for the duration of the race. You cannot pick them up or drop them off mid-race.
