FAQ

Is mandatory gear checked for UTA?
Yes, mandatory gear is strictly enforced. You must present your full kit at registration to receive your bib. Random checks are also performed on-course.
How do I get to the start line at Scenic World?
There is no parking at Scenic World on race day. Use the free event shuttle buses that run frequently from the Katoomba town centre and designated parking areas.
What are the Furber Steps?
The Furber Steps are a set of 900+ stairs at the very end of the race. Even after 100km, you must climb these to the finish line at Scenic World.
Are trekking poles allowed?
Yes, poles are permitted and highly recommended for the 50k and 100k distances to assist with the significant elevation gain and steep stairs.
What is the typical weather condition in May?
May is late autumn. Expect cold mornings (near 0°C) and mild days (12-15°C). Mist and rain are common, so your waterproof layer is essential.
Where is the best place for spectators?
Echo Point and Narrow Neck offer great vantage points. The finish line at Scenic World provides the best atmosphere as runners complete the climb.
