- When and where is the race packet pickup?
- Packet pickup typically occurs 1-2 days before the race at the Sandakan Harbour Square or the nearby community hall. Check your official registration email for exact times.
- What is the typical race day weather like?
- Sandakan is tropical. Expect high humidity (80%+) and temperatures around 25-27°C at the 4:00 AM start, rising to 32°C by midday. Rain showers are common.
- Is there a specific gear requirement?
- Standard running gear is sufficient, but moisture-wicking fabric is essential due to the humidity. Headlamps are recommended as the first few hours are in total darkness.
- How do I get from the airport to my hotel?
- Sandakan Airport (SDK) is 13km from the town centre. Use the Grab app (most reliable) or pre-paid taxis from the terminal. The trip takes roughly 20-30 minutes.
- Are there hydration stations on the course?
- Yes, water and isotonic drinks are usually provided every 2km to 3km. Given the heat, it is highly recommended to carry a personal hydration vest or handheld bottle.
- Is the course flat or hilly?
- The Elopura course is generally undulating, featuring coastal roads and some urban inclines. It is not a flat PB course but offers scenic views of the Sulu Sea.
