FAQ

Where is the start line located?
The EDP Lisbon Marathon starts in Cascais/Carcavelos at the Nova School of Business and Economics. It follows the coast (Marginal) all the way to Lisbon.
Is there a time limit for the marathon?
Yes, there is a strict 6-hour time limit. The roads are gradually reopened to traffic, so runners falling behind pace may be asked to move to the pavement.
Can I use public transport to get to the start?
Yes, the CP (Comboios de Portugal) Cascais train line connects central Lisbon (Cais do Sodre) to Carcavelos. Runners usually get free transport on race day by showing their bib.
Is the course flat?
The course is exceptionally flat as it follows the coastline. However, it is point-to-point, so be aware that a headwind from the Atlantic can occur.
Where do I pick up my race bib?
Bib collection usually takes place at the Sport Expo (often held at the Seaside Pavilion or similar venue) in the days before the race. There is no bib pickup on race morning.
Does the marathon finish in the same place as the start?
No. The marathon starts in Carcavelos/Cascais and finishes in central Lisbon at Praça do Comércio. Plan your logistics for a point-to-point journey.
