FAQ

Where is the packet pickup located?
Packet pickup traditionally takes place at the Fruita Community Centre or a downtown location in Fruita the day before your specific race distance.
What is the terrain like on the Kokopelli trails?
Expect technical red rock sections, sandy washes, and fast-rolling double track. It is high-desert terrain with significant exposure to sun and wind.
Is there a mandatory gear list?
As a UTMB World Series event, mandatory gear typically includes a minimum 1L water capacity, whistle, emergency blanket, and a mobile phone. Specifics are confirmed in the final athlete guide.
How do I get to the start line?
Most races start at the Kokopelli Trailhead. Parking is extremely limited; it is highly recommended to carpool or use the event shuttles if provided from downtown Fruita.
What is the typical race weather?
April in Fruita is unpredictable. It can be 20°C and sunny or drop to 0°C with snow/rain. Layering is essential for the early morning starts.
Is there water on the course?
Aid stations are spaced roughly every 8-12km. You must be self-sufficient between stations as the desert heat can cause rapid dehydration.
