FAQ

Where is packet pickup for the Chicago Triathlon?
Packet pickup typically takes place during the Multisport Expo at the Hilton Chicago on Michigan Avenue in the two days leading up to the race.
How do I get my bike to the transition area?
Athletes must walk or ride their bikes to the transition area in Grant Park. Many nearby hotels are within walking distance, but there is also a designated drop-off zone.
Is it a wetsuit-legal swim?
The swim takes place in Monroe Harbor. Water temperatures in late August usually hover around 20-22°C (68-72°F), making it typically wetsuit-legal for age-groupers.
What is the bike course like?
The bike course features the unique 'intermediate' level of Lakeshore Drive, which is closed to traffic, providing a flat and fast pancake-like surface with stunning skyline views.
Are there shuttles from the finish to the start?
Because the race is a point-to-point swim (finishing the run near where transition is), shuttles are generally not needed for athletes staying in South Loop hotels.
Where can spectators see the race?
The best spots are at the Lakefront Path for the swim exit, and along Columbus Drive for the finish line and final run stretches.
