FAQ

Is the Barbâtre Trail run on sand or road?
The course is a mix of forest trails, dunes, and beach sections. You should expect significant portions of soft sand which require good ankle stability and trail-specific footwear.
Where is the packet pickup located?
Bib collection generally takes place at the Salle Omnisports near the Place du marché on the morning of the race and the evening before.
Are gaiters recommended for this trail?
Yes, sand gaiters are highly recommended to prevent debris and sand from entering your shoes during the dune and beach sections.
How do I access the island from the mainland?
You can access Noirmoutier via the free bridge (Pont de Noirmoutier) or the famous Passage du Gois, but check tide times for the latter as it is only traversable twice a day.
What is the typical weather for a mid-November race?
Expect cool, damp conditions with temperatures around 8-12°C. The ocean wind can make it feel significantly colder, so a windproof layer is essential.
Is there a time limit for the 20km distance?
Typically, the cutoff is approximately 3.5 hours, allowing for a steady pace even through the technical sand sections.
