FAQ

Is the water clean for the swim leg?
Yes, World Triathlon conducts strict water quality tests 48 hours before the start. The swim is typically held in the lagoon which is clear and protected.
What are the bike course conditions like?
The course is generally flat along the coastal roads but can be subject to strong ocean crosswinds; deep-section wheels should be used with caution.
How do I get my bike from the airport to my hotel?
Pre-booked shuttles or specific athlete transfers are recommended as standard taxis at Faa'a Airport (PPT) have limited space for large bike boxes.
Where is the main race briefing held?
briefings are usually held at the host hotel or the Town Hall (Mairie de Papeete) the day before the race.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Unlikely. Water temperatures in August average 26-27°C, making it almost certainly a non-wetsuit (swim skin) race.
Are there hydration stations on the run?
Yes, aid stations with water and electrolytes are positioned every 1.5km to 2km due to the high humidity.
